Each year, our Haunted Wine Tours gain in popularity and what helps to make them a success are our talented actors! We have a variety of roles to fill, so if you are interested in being a cast member, please read the requirements listed below and audition virtually by clicking on the button at the bottom of the page.

Cast Requirements

Event Background This is the third year we have hosted Haunted Wine Tours and last year’s event sold out in one hour with over 1.8M guests interested. Each Haunted Wine Tour is an hour-long, lantern-led walking tour and seven winetasting through the historic and hallowed grounds of The Winery at Bull Run where the first major battle of the Civil War took place. Guests will be entertained with tales of shadowy apparitions, orbs, unexplained smells of cannon fire and cigar smoke, and other true Civil War ghost stories.  

Date and Time The Haunted Wine Tours will be offered almost every Thursday and Friday night (4 tours each night starting at 7 PM and ending at 11 PM) September 20–November 9. You will be required to report 30 minutes prior to the start of the tour. A full list of tours times can be found here.

Requirements To be considered, you must be available for a minimum of four (4) nights or 16 tours spread out across the 14 nights. Roles are part-time positions and pay is $15/hour. You must be available to attend at least one dress rehearsal (hosted on September 5 at 7 PM and September 13 at 7 PM). Tours take place at night on the winery property. You must be able to stand or walk for 45 minutes at a time and not be scared of the dark. 

Roles

Tour Guide(s) Description: Deliver opening, transitional, and closing poems to group. Lead guests on tour through property by candlelight. Male or female, any age. Dress in period attire. Click Here to Read Audition Script

Winery at Bull Run “Staff Member” Description: Shares modern day ghost stories and paranormal encounters from the winery with the guests. Male or female, any age. Dress in winery t-shirt and jeans. Click Here to Read Audition Script

Country Person Description: Tells Harper’s Ferry ghost stories huddled by a campfire. Male or female, middle aged to elderly, southern accent preferred. Dress in flannel shirt, jeans or overalls, and boots. Click Here to Read Audition Script

Union Soldier Description- Reads letter by Sullivan Ballou written to his wife. Male, middle aged, southern accent. Dress in Union uniform. Click Here to Read Audition Script

Equestrian Description- Shares cavalry ghost stories from property and surrounding area. Male or female, any age. Dress in modern day or period equestrian attire. Click Here to Read Audition Script

Priest Description: Tells story of family affected by war and the resulting supernatural consequences. Male, any age preferably older. Dress as period priest. Click Here to Read Audition Script

Widow in White Nightgown Description: Relays the stories of the wives left at home eternally searching for their loved ones on the battlefield. Stationed in vineyard. Female, any age, must be able to sing, southern accent. Click Here to Read Audition Script 

Hotel Owner Turned Volunteer Nurse Description: Tells personal story of hotel used as hospital during war and resulting paranormal experiences in hotel. Female, middle aged to elderly, southern accent. Click Here to Read Audition Script
